The Old Bucharest that was demolished in last decades must be reconstructed, as the cities destroyed in WW2 were reconstructed in Germany or Poland. Is enough one building or complex of buildings (like the Văcărești Monastery, e.g.) to be reconstructed to make people understand this is possible.
The modification of old buildings in Bucharest must be stopped! Less than 10% of the old houses and villas that are being renovated are left in their original form, most of them get "mansardized", "extended", "recompartmented". By this, the old city vanish in the same way it vanishes through demolishments. Old buildings are historical witnesses and by their destruction we destroy our link with the past. Whatthe idea of making Caragiale Festivals if we destroy the Caragiale's city?
