Built July 1952.
Still brand new, VX185 flew from Northern Ireland to Canada and back on 26th August 1952, setting a new transatlantic record of 10 hours 3 minutes 29.28 seconds. In 1954 it was converted to become the prototype B(I)8 and the original B.5 nose was donated to the Science Museum for preservation.
It is now on display in the Military Aviation Hangar at the National Museum of Flight (part of National Museums Scotland).
