English: This plaque is next to Brunton's statue which is near Yokohama stadium. It records all he did for Yokohama in the short time he was there.
Generally the following explanation is indicated to this plaque: Brunton and Yokohama / British civil engineer R.H.Brunton who visited Japan by governmental invitation in the first year of the Meiji era(1868), While building the lighthouse in each place of a Japanese coast with the opening of a country,in Yokohama which was being made into the base of activity over eight years, left the big footprint to modernistic town planning, such as performing the design of a "Nihon-o-do-ri" street or Yokohama Park.
