このページは音楽家、ミュージシャン、音楽グループに関する著名性についての簡単なガイドラインです。

ウィキペディア内で音楽家関係の項目をつくる場合、常に遭遇するのは著名性についての問題です。世の中には非常に多くのミュージシャン、音楽グループが存在します。全てをウィキペディア内に作るわけにはいきません。ウィキペディアはミュージシャンのデータベースではないからです。著名性があると考えられるミュージシャンのみ取り上げて解説していく必要があります。

以下は英語版で考えられた著名性があると判断するための要件です。これにすべて当てはまらないからといってその記事を削除しなければならないというわけではありません。これはガイドラインであって－ルールではないからです。

ミュージシャン・音楽グループ

ミュージシャン・音楽グループは歌手、ラッパー、DJ、バンド、オーケストラ、演奏家、音楽ユニット、ダンスグループなどを含みます。以下のどれかに当てはまるなら、そのミュージシャンは著名性を持っていると判断します。

中規模以上の国のナショナルチャート上でヒットしたことがある。
中規模以上の国でゴールドアルバム以上の売上を記録したアルバムがある。
複数の国でコンサートツアー、または著名な会場での国内コンサートツアーが著名なソース（雑誌や新聞など）で、枠をとって報道された。
2枚以上のアルバムをメジャーレーベル（または重要なインディーズレーベル）から発表している。
有名な音楽メディアで特集されたことがある。
著名な音楽賞を受賞している。（グラミー賞など）
著名な音楽大会で表彰台にあがったことがある。
その国の著名なラジオ放送でヘヴィ・ローテーションされた。
その国の著名なラジオ放送で30分または1時間番組をもっている。
ある主要都市の音楽シーンで、そのシーンのスタイルを代表している。

作曲家・ソングライター・リブレット作者・作詞家

上記ミュージシャン・音楽グループの楽曲か歌詞にクレジットされている。
伝記が本として出版されている。または複数の査読された出版物に記事が発表されている。
上記の基準を満たすソングライター、作曲家または作詞家にのちに作曲の基礎として使われる仕事をした。
上記の基準を満たすソングライター、作曲家または作詞家の師匠、影響を与えた人物である。
Has written a song or composition which has won or placed in a major music competition not established expressly for new comers.

マスメディアから外れた音楽家

Is cited in notable and verifiable sources as being influential in style, technique, repertory or teaching in a particular music genre.
Has been a significant musical influence on a musician or composer that qualifies for the above list.
Has established a tradition or school in a particular genre.
Has composed a number of melodies, tunes or standards used in a notable genre, or tradition or school within a notable genre.
Is frequently covered in publications devoted to a notable sub-culture.

オンライン上での海外ミュージシャンの良い情報源として All Music Guideが挙げられる。しばしば情報遅れな場合もあるが、そのミュージシャンがなにをしたのかをつかむにはよい。日本語の情報源としてはリッスンジャパンなどがある。
