初代準男爵サー・リチャード・マーティン（Sir Richard Martin, 1st Baronet JP, PC^[1]、1831年 3月17日 – 1901年 10月18日）は、アイルランドの実業家。様々な公職にも就いた。

家族

マーティンは、アングロ・アイリッシュ (Anglo-Irish people) の地主、ダブリン県カパー (Cappagh) のジェームズ・マーティン (James Martin) の息子であった。1864年 10月4日、マーティンは、ヴィクトリア女王の侍医 (the Queen's physician-in-ordinary) であった準男爵サー・ドミニク・コリガン (Sir Dominic Corrigan, Bt) の娘、メアリ (Mary) と結婚した^[2]。

事業と公職

マーティンは、ダブリンにおいて最も古い歴史をもつ木材会社や海運会社の経営に関わっており、ダブリン港における成功した大物のひとりであった。市政の公職に任じられる事もよくあり、アイルランド灯台委員会 (Irish Lights Board) や貸付基金委員会 (Loan Fund Board) の委員となり、港湾船舶委員会 (Port and Ducks Board) では委員長を務めた^[3]。

1865年から1866年には、ダブリン市の長官 (High Sheriff) を務め、1869年には、ダブリン市の総督代行 (Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Dublin) も務めた^[2]。

1885年には、ダブリン商工会議所 (Dublin Chamber of Commerce) 会頭となり^[3]、1885年 6月2日に準男爵に叙され、ダブリン州カパーの準男爵となった。1896年には、さらにアイルランド枢密院 (Privy Council of Ireland) 議員となる栄誉を受けた。

サー・リチャードは、1901年10月にダブリンにおいて、70歳で死去し、準男爵位は消滅した^[3]。
