Background Info

I live in Japan and would like to do JP-EN translation for existing pages related to the area I'm currently in. I think this information would be of interest given the large foreign population in the region. If I find other Japanese language pages that I think would be of use to foreigners I would also like to translate them as well. I'm very new to Wikipedia and trying to read through all of the guides to figure out how I can begin making new pages, so I hope everyone will bear with me in the meantime.
