ウィルフレッド・ループレヒト・ビオン（英: Wilfred Ruprecht Bion、1897年9月8日 - 1979年11月8日）はイギリスの医学者、精神科医、精神分析家。

メラニー・クライン、ドナルド・ウィニコット、ロナルド・フェアバーンらと並び称されるイギリスの精神分析家である。第一次、第二次世界大戦に従軍した。

略歴

1897年9月8日イギリス領インド・マトゥラー生まれ。1922年オックスフォード大学卒業。ユニヴァーシティ・カレッジ・ロンドンにて医学を学び、1929年医師資格取得。1933年-1948年タビストック・クリニック勤務、後に所長。

父の仕事の都合でインドを転々としていたが、8歳の時にイギリスの寄宿学校に1人で入ることになり、それ以後、インドに戻ることはなかった。19歳の時に第一次世界大戦が始まり、ビオンは戦車隊に配属された。そこでは非常に過酷な状況であり、友人の死や部隊の壊滅などに遭遇することとなった。そのことはビオンが後々にまで悪夢にうなされる原因となった。除隊後には高校教師をすることになったが、男子生徒との性関係を疑われ、仕事を辞めざるをえなくなった。その後、医師になるために医学部に入学した。また、その後の第二次世界大戦ではビオンは戦争神経症の治療を軍部ですることになり、その際にグループワークに携わることになった。この時の経験が、基底想定グループの研究へとつながった。

その戦争も終結し、ビオンはグループワークの研究から徐々に離れ、精神分析家の道へと進むこととなり、メラニー・クラインの訓練分析を受けるようになった。ビオンは精神分析家になるまでに相当の回り道をしており、当時にしてはかなり遅い50歳になってようやく精神分析家となった。その後、ビオンは精神病の精神分析の経験から、グリッド、思考の理論、コンテイナー・コンテインド理論など早期乳幼児期を念頭においた理論構築を精力的におこなっていった。この影響は非常に大きく、現代の精神分析や対象関係論を理解する上で欠かせないものになっている。
