Wrong name in Japanese?
[編集]If the primary Japanese name is 旅ネズミ then shouldn't the Japanese article use that title? Shanen(会話) 2021年9月8日 (水) 07:47 (UTC)
- In translation of lemming, タビネズミ (旅鼠, tabi-nezumi, lit: travel mouse) is not the primary Japanese name in modern usage, although 旅鼠 (lǚ shǔ) is used in Chinese.
- In Japan, 旅鼠 (tabi-nezumi) is used sinse Meiji era at least (Iwakawa, 1884, doi:10.11501/832224). However, レミング (remingu), which is derived from the transliteration of the English word lemming, is the standard Japanese name (Kawada et al., 2018, doi:10.11238/mammalianscience.58.S1).--火乃狐(会話) 2024年11月25日 (月) 13:08 (UTC)
