ベラ・バラッサ

ベラ・バラッサ（Béla Alexander Balassa, 1928年 - 1991年）は国際経済学者。地域統合研究の第一人者。ジョンズ・ホプキンス大学教授。ハンガリー、ブダペスト出身。

経歴

• 1951年 ブダペスト大学卒業
• 1958年 イェール大学 経済学修士
• 1959年 イェール大学 経済学博士

業績

1961年に発表した「経済統合の理論」（The Theory of Economic Integration）にて地域統合を5段階に分類した。数字が大きくなるにつれ統合は深化する。この分類は地域統合が議論される際に度々引用される。なお、最終段階の完全な経済統合を実現している地域統合は存在しない。
