ロバート・クレイグ（Robert T. Craig, 1947年5月10日 –）は、アメリカ合衆国のコミュニケーション学者。コロラド大学ボルダー校コミュニケーション学科名誉教授。コミュニケーション理論の構成的メタモデル (the constitutive metamodel) の提唱者。国際コミュニケーション学会 (International Communication Association) 前会長。『Communication Theory』初代編集委員長。[1]

来歴[編集]

アメリカのニューヨーク州ロチェスター生まれ。1969年ウィスコンシン大学マディソン校スピーチ学科卒業（B.A.）。1970年ミシガン州立大学コミュニケーション学研究科修士課程修了（M.A.）、1976年同研究科博士課程修了（Ph.D.）。ドナルド・クッシュマン (Donald P. Cushman) やエヴェリット・ロジャース (Everett M. Rogers) らに師事。1975年から1979年ペンシルベニア州立大学スピ－チ・コミュニケーション学科助教授。1979年から1981年イリノイ大学シカゴ校コミュニケーション・演劇学科助教授。1981年テンプル大学レトリック・コミュニケーション学科助教授、1984年准教授。1990年よりコロラド大学ボルダー校コミュニケーション学科で教鞭を執る。2001年教授に昇格、2005年まで学科長を務める。2014年に退職、名誉教授となる。妻のカレン・トレイシー（Karen Tracy）も同学科名誉教授。[2]

1991年から1993年まで『Communication Theory』（国際コミュニケーション学会誌）初代編集委員長。1999年包括的な論文「Communication Theory as a Field（分野としてのコミュニケーション理論）」[3]を出版し、コミュニケーション理論の「構成的メタモデル」を提唱する。10年以上試行錯誤を繰り返して完成させた[4]この論文は、国際コミュニケーション学会と全米コミュニケーション学会（National Communication Association）の両方から最優秀学術論文賞を受賞する。その後多くの研究書や教科書に広く採用される。[5] 2003年から2004年まで国際コミュニケーション学会会長。2008年から2022年まで国際コミュニケーション学会ハンドブック・シリーズ（ICA Handbook Series）初代編集委員長。著書、論文多数。
