Daisuke Tarutani (born April 6, 1966) is a Japanese film director, actor, photographer and media producer.

Daisuke is the owner of WEST EAST PRODUCTION Ltd. and is also active as an entertainment agent. He lives in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture.

In addition, he is also active as a peace activist, a notary public, a real estate broker, a karate practitioner (first dan), and a racer (with a domestic A-class license).

As a karateka (1st dan), he contributes to the development of Japanese culture and world peace activities through martial arts. He has been certified by the World Karate Federation as a 1st-dan karate-dō, and continues to visit karate dojos that transcend cultures and support the acceptance of war refugees.

His wife, Tatiana Pohidniya (a Ukrainian national), is active in supporting Ukraine as a representative director of the Japan-Ukraine Association.

History

At Hyogo Prefectural Nagata High School, he served as director of the film research club and produced the 8mm film "Miyuki".

He studied Filmmaking at Narrabundah College in Canberra, Australia between 1984 and 1985.

After studying abroad in Australia and immersed in filming and directing studies, he started his career in the world of video film rental in Japan.

After that, he started to work as a club DJ through human connections, and started to run several clubs using names inspired by movies as club names.

When the company was founded, Kobe City had just been hit by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, one of the largest earthquakes in Japan's modern history.

At the time, while managing a club bar, he continued to introduce and support the homes and living spaces of many people, making use of his real estate brokerage license, and became the owner of a real estate company.

His wife, Tatiana Pohidniya (a Ukrainian national), is active in supporting Ukraine as a representative director of the Japan-Ukraine Association.

Filmography

While gaining experience in the production of Hollywood musician Rickey Rebel's music videos and photography and videography of fashion events, in 2018, he started his own film production firm, WEST EAST PRODUCTION Ltd.

In charge of the media production of the movie "Road through which the wind passes" (scheduled to be released in 2023) directed by Ichisei Tanaka, as a European distributor.

Director and media producer of the movie "Diversity United ~ Conspiracy of the Deep State ~".

Served as a media producer for Mei Liu's film "Lost in 24". (From March 2023)

Held a screening of the cancer action movie "Sapphire", directed by Toshinari Yonishi, in Kobe.

Hosted the 2019 Miss Earth Japan Hyogo Prefecture Tournament.

Daisuke used his collection of classic cars to promote peace across various countries around the world.

  • August 2009 Received the Kobe City Hanadokei Award from Mr. Kizo Nagakumoto of Kobe City for his contributions to regional development.
  • March 2018 Attended the 29th Kitano Tenmangu Plum Blossom Festival Performance
  • March 2019 Former Yugoslavia Governor of Yamagata visits Fukushima with Prince Serge.
  • August 2019: Visited Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Osaka with Mrs. Devi, and visited Governor Toru Hashimoto at the time.
  • In May 2022 Welcome party for Ukrainian refugees at the Karatedo Zendokai in Takamori-machi, Nagano Prefecture. He is sponsoring nine Ukrainian refugees. Takashi Ozawa, Chief Instructor, promotes the acceptance of Ukrainian refugees and people with disabilities.
  • From June to August 2022, activities to support Ukrainian refugees will be carried out in Ukraine, Odessa and Kyiv.
  • June 2022 Volunteer at "World Central Kitchen" in Poland.
  • August 2022 Volunteer at "Peace for Moldova" in Moldova.
  • His wife acted as a guarantor for 13 Ukrainian refugees in Kobe for Ukrainian refugees.
