ガンツ・ヒル駅 (―えき、英: Gants Hill Station) はロンドン地下鉄セントラル線の駅である。 トラベルカード・ゾーンは4に属している。プラットホームが地下にあるロンドン地下鉄駅としては最も東に位置する。
歴史
[編集]駅の建設は1930年代にはじまったが、 第二次世界大戦の影響により遅れていた。戦時中、駅は防空壕として、トンネルは Plessey社の弾薬工場 として使用された。"Ilford North" や "Cranbrook"が駅名として候補に挙がったが、結局1947年12月14日にガンツ・ヒル駅として開業した。[2]
Design
[編集]The station, like many others on the same branch, was designed by notable Tube architect Charles Holden; during the planning period London Underground Holden advised on the construction of the new Moscow Metro, which is why the barrel-vaulted halls of Gants Hill echo many stations on the Russian capital's system.[3][4] There are three escalators from the ticket office to the platforms.

[編集]The station is located beneath Gants Hill roundabout, and reached via the pedestrian subway under the roundabout.
