Tsunenaga Hasekura (1571 <Genki 2nd year> – August 7th, 1622 <July 1st, Genna 8th>) is a warlord. He is from present-day Sendai. He led the Keicho Mission to Europe and traveled to Europe, becoming the only Roman aristocrat and Franciscan Catholic among people of color. He left Japan in 1613 on the order of Date Masamune and traveled to Europe, where he had an audience with Pope Paul V in Rome for trade negotiations, but returned to Japan without success.
