フランク・オコナー国際短編小説賞 （英: Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award フランク・オコナーこくさいたんぺんしょうせつしょう）はフランク・オコナーに献名された国際的な文学賞。2005年創設から2015年まで実施し[1]、もっぱら短編小説を書いたオコナーにちなんで、最も秀逸な短編小説に賞を授けた。短編小説に贈られる賞金€25,000は世界で有数の高額賞金とされた（2012年時点、リベラ・デル・ドゥエロ短編小説賞（英語）も参照）[2]。例年、60冊前後の候補作から4冊もしくは6冊が選考に残り、審査員3名で最終選考にかけてきた。
沿革[編集]
賞の設立に先立って、アイルランドのマンスター文学センター（コーク市）は市民であった文学者フランク・オコナーの功績を称える「フランク・オコナー国際短編小説祭」を2000年に初めて行っており[3]、朗読や文学をめぐるパネルディスカッション、ワークショップを開いて短編小説の価値を祝った。人気が高まると予算の拡充を得て、2005年にコーク市は国際的な文学賞を設立した[3]。同年、同市は「ヨーロッパ文化の首都」（European Capital of Culture）に指名されている。
2008年には次点を認めず、審査員一致で授賞作『Unaccustomed Earth』（英語版、ジュンパ・ラヒリ作）を選んだ[4]。
当賞は2016年に廃止された[1]。
