The Grand March "Celebration" for wind orchestraJapanese: 祝典行進曲Hepburn: shukuten kōshinkyoku is a march composed by Ikuma Dan in 1959 (昭和34年) to celebrate marriage between the Japanese crown prince Akihito (at that time) and the crown princess Michiko (at that time).

Overview[編集]

Ikuma dan, a Japanese composer, composed the march as wind music in 1959. It is said that it was performed at the parede of coach after imperial wedding ceremony, but in fuct it was not, because the band's ability is not enough to play it.

Instrumentation[編集]

The march is scored for concert band: piccolo, two flutes, oboe, e-flat clarinet, three b-flat clarinets, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, bassoon, three trumpets, four alto horns, three trombones, baritone horn, euphonium, tuba, snare drum, bass drum, and cymbal.
