『Pokémon UNITE』（ポケモンユナイト）は、株式会社ポケモンとテンセントゲームズのゲーム開発部門TiMi Studiosが共同開発し、Android、iOSおよびNintendo Switch向けに配信予定の、ポケットモンスターシリーズ初のマルチプレイヤーオンラインバトルアリーナ（MOBA）^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]。2020年6月24日に株式会社ポケモンが公開したWeb番組「Pokémon Presents」の中で発表された^[5]^[6]。

ゲームプレイ

ポケモンユナイトは5対5のチーム戦略バトルゲームであり、ゲームマップは2つに分割され、それぞれに複数のゴールポイントがある。プレイヤーは、AIの「野生」のポケモンを倒して（捕まえると呼称^[4]）ポイントを獲得し、集めたポイントを相手ゴールに運んで入れれば自分のチームの得点になる^[7]。各試合には時間制限があり、各試合終了時までに合計得点が最も高いチームが勝利となる。プレイヤーが操作するポケモンは毎試合レベル1からスタートし、野生のポケモンを倒すたびに経験値を獲得してレベルアップしていき、新しいわざを覚えられるようになる^[4]。本作には、ポケモンゲームで一般的なシステムである「タイプ相性」はない一方で、各ポケモンキャラクターに固有の「ユナイトわざ」が搭載されている^[8]。

評価

配信前

ポケモンユナイトの発表は賛否の混じった様々な評価が寄せられ、メディアは本作が新しい対戦型ゲームシーンを新たなユーザに広げる可能性があると論じた^[9]。この発表のYouTube動画は24時間以内に17万を超える低評価がつき、アメリカのポケモン公式YouTubeチャンネルで最も評価の低い動画になった^[5]。ファンからの不満は、中国のモバイルゲーム大手テンセントの関与、基本プレイ無料モデル、および過去のポケモンプレゼンツで本作を「ビッグプロジェクト」として発表していたことによって高まっていた期待に起因している^[10]^[11]。そのため、多くのファンは新たなメインのRPGが発表されると信じていため、本作が発表された際には、モバイルで配信されるスピンオフゲームであることから、多くの人が失望した^[12]^[13]。
