S・ベアリング＝グールド

セイバイン・ベアリング＝グールド（Sabine Baring-Gould、1834年1月28日 - 1924年1月2日）は、イングランド国教会の牧師、考古学者、民俗学者、聖書学者。孫の一人はシャーロキアンのウィリアム・ステュアート・ベアリング＝グールド（William Stuart Baring-Gould）である。

生涯

エクセター州セント・シドウェル（St Sidwells）教区に生まれる。ファーストネームのセイバインは遠縁の北極探検家エドワード・サビーンにちなんで名づけられた。ケンブリッジ大学を卒業後、1881年からデヴォン州トレンチャードで牧師をする。著作は本職の聖書研究から、考古学・民俗学・伝説研究・民謡研究にまでおよぶ。
