リッキー・リー・スキャッグス（Rickie Lee "Ricky" Skaggs, 1954年6月18日 - ）は、アメリカのカントリー、ブルーグラスのシンガー兼奏者、プロデューサー、作曲家。元々はマンドリン弾きだったが、フィドル、ギター、マンドキャスター、バンジョーも演奏する。
略歴[編集]
幼少期[編集]
スキャッグスはケンタッキー州コーデルに生まれる。[2] 5歳の時に父ホーバートからマンドリンを贈られ、演奏を始める。6歳の時には、ビル・モンローのと共にステージで演奏する。7歳の時には、カントリー音楽専門のテレビ番組『マーシャ・ホワイト』（Martha White）に出演し、フラット＆スクラッグスとともに演奏した。また、同時期にグランド・オール・オプリのオーディションを希望するが、幼すぎたため断念した。
10代半ばには、ギタリストのキース・ウィットリーに出逢い、ウィットリーの兄弟でバンジョー弾きのドワイトと共にラジオ番組で演奏。1970年、ラルフ・スタンリーのオープニング・アクトを務める。その際に、スキャッグスとキース・ウィットリーはスタンリーのバンド"クリンチ・マウンテン・ボーイズ"に誘われる。
後に、スキャッグスは、ワシントンD.C.でカントリー・ジェントルメンや、J.D.クロウ&ニュー・サウスに加入。1976年、スキャッグスはヴィンス・ギルやジェリー・ダグラスと共にプログレッシブ・ブルーグラスのバンド、ボーン・クリークを結成。また数年の間、エミルー・ハリスのホット・バンドのメンバーを務め、ハリスの1980年のブルーグラス・ルーツ・アルバム"Roses in the Snow"のために編曲を行う。編曲に加え、ホット・バンドの中で、マンドリンとフィドルを演奏した。
ネオ・トラディショナルと実験的音楽[編集]
1980年はカントリーでの活動を開始し、12 #1 hits, 8 CMA awards, and 8 ACM awardsを達成。1982年には、グランド・オール・オプリの結成以来最年少のメンバーになる。ギタリストでプロデューサーのチェット・アトキンスはスキャッグスをカントリー音楽を救う人間であると評した。[3] 1990年代、2000年代には、自身のルーツであるブルーグラスに立ち返り、新しいサウンドを実験し始める。自身のバンド、ケンタッキー・サンダーで、グラミー賞およびIBMAのベスト・ブルーグラス・アルバムを受賞。
2000年、バーモントで活動するジャム・バンドのフィッシュと共演する[4]。2007年5月20日、スキャッグスはロック・ミュージシャンのブルース・ホーンズビーとのアルバムをリリース。
2008年には、ザ・ホワイツと、スキャッグスの家族が営むレーベルとレコーディングしたアルバムをリリース。
2008年、ザ・ラカンターズの"Old Enough"をブルーグラスカバーし、アシュリー・モンロー、ザ・ラカンターズと共にレコーディング。彼はマンドリンの演奏や、ジャック・ホワイト、ブレンダン・ベンソン、アシュリー・モンローとともにボーカルを担当した。
2011年、スキャッグスは他のブルーグラス・ミュージシャンとともに、アイリッシュバンドThe Brock McGuire Bandの"Green Grass Blue Grass"に参加。アイルランド伝統音楽とブルーグラス、アパラチア音楽とのつながりを研究する。
また、同2011年、スキャッグスはイギリスのプログレッシブ・ロックバンド、ムーディー・ブルースをトリビュートしたアルバム"TWO...Much Love"をリリース。スキャッグスは"You And Me"でリード・ボーカルを務める。[5]
2012年、スキャッグスは"Soldier's Son"でバリー・ギブとコラボレーション。同曲は"Music to My Ears"に収録されている。
2015年、ライ・クーダー、シャロン・ホワイトやザ・ワイツのメンバーと共にツアーを行う。[6]
生活[編集]
スキャッグスはザ・ホワイツのシャロン・ホワイトと1981年8月に結婚した[7]。彼女との間に娘のモーリーと息子のルーカスをもうける[7]。スキャッグスは以前ブレンダ・スタンリーと結婚しており、彼女との間にはアンディとマンディの2人の子供がいる[8]。
