Gen.G（ジェンジー、正式名称：Gen.G Esports、旧称：KSV eSports）は、ロサンゼルス、ソウル、上海に拠点を置くeスポーツ組織。

概要[編集]

2017年7月12日、Kabamの共同創業者であるケビン・チョウとケント・ウェイクフォードがオーバーウォッチ・リーグのフランチャイズを獲得するため、母体となるKSV eSportsを設立させた[2]。2018年5月3日、KSV eSportsからGen.G（Gen.G Esports）へのリブランディングを発表した。Gen.Gは「Generation Gaming」を略したものである[3][4]。2019年4月17日、ウィル・スミスと本田圭佑が展開する投資ファンド「Dreamers Fund（ドリーマーズ・ファンド）[5]」をはじめとした投資家たち[6]が、4600万ドルの資金調達を発表[7][8]。現在、NBA 2Kリーグの他に、League of Legends Champions Korea（LCK）、VCT Pacificでフランチャイズチームを運営している[9][10][11]。

2017年[編集]

  • 7月12日、ケビン・チョウとケント・ウェイクフォードがオーバーウォッチ・リーグへ参加するため、現チームの母体KSV eSportsを設立[2][12]。
  • 10月27日、オーバーウォッチ・リーグのチーム名「ソウル・ダイナスティ」を発表[13]。
  • 11月7日、『PUBG』部門を設立[14]。
  • 11月30日、Samsung Galaxyの『League of Legends』部門を買収し、部門設立[15]。

2018年[編集]

  • 5月3日、KSV eSportsからGen.G（Gen.G Esports）にリブランディング[3]。
  • 5月3日、『Clash Royale』部門を設立[16]。
  • 10月25日、『Fortnite』部門を設立[17]。

2019年[編集]

  • 3月1日、『Apex Legends』部門を設立[18]。
  • 9月26日、上海を拠点に『NBA 2K』部門を設立し、NBA 2Kリーグの参加を発表[19][20]。
  • 11月4日、『Clash Royale』部門が解散[21]。

2022年[編集]

  • 9月28日、『Rocket League』部門を2チーム設立。チーム名は「Gen.G Mobil1 Racing」と「Gen.G Mobil1 Racing Black」[27]。

League of Legends[編集]

歴史[編集]

2017年11月30日にSamsung Galaxyの部門を買収し、設立された[15]。2018年シーズンから参加となったGen.G Esportsは、LCKの地域決勝で優勝し、世界選手権への出場権を獲得。世界選手権では、グループステージ1勝5敗とグループ最下位で終え、韓国チームとして2013年以来のグループステージ敗退となった[31][32]。

2019年シーズンでは、リーグの成績がふるわず世界選手権を逃す。2020年シーズンでは地域決勝でT1を3-0で下し優勝、世界選手権出場を決めた[33]。世界選手権では、グループステージ5勝1敗とグループ1位で通過[34]。準々決勝進出を果たすが、G2 Esportsに0-3で敗れた[35]。

2021年シーズンでは、リーグの総合順位が2位だったため自動的に世界選手権へ出場となった[36]。世界選手権ではグループステージを1位で通過し、準々決勝ではCloud9に3-0で勝利と順調だったが、準決勝でEdward Gamingに2-3で敗れた[37][38]。
