増田 顕人（ますだ けんと、Masuda Kento、英: Kento Masuda、1973年6月29日 - ）is a Japanese composer, musician and producer, member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

来歴[編集]

生い立ち[編集]

ヤマハ音楽教室では作曲も学んだ。また、15歳以下の子供たちが参加するヤマハ音楽教室主催の「ジュニアオリジナルコンサート」（ヤマハでは、JOC と略称する）に何度も参加し、コンクールにて受賞を繰り返す(8)。

1990年代[編集]

1990年、17歳よりヤマハのミュージシャンとして、国内のイベント会場や結婚式場、海外ではニューヨークのヤマハ支店で演奏活動を行う[7]。 また、テレビゲームメーカー コナミ（現：コナミデジタルエンタテインメント）と楽曲委託契約を締結し、いくつかのテレビゲームのためにサウンドトラックの作曲をした。 1992年、ファーストオリジナルアルバム「Wheel of Fortune」を Welcome Production よりリリース。後、ニューヨークに移り住み、プロデューサー Lee Shapiro (フォー・シーズンズ)とミュージックプロダクションの仕事を始める。 1998年、作曲と歌詞、編曲、演奏を行った自身初のプロデュース作「MYOJYOW」をリリース。 1999年、「MEMORIES」をリリース。 この頃は、アルバム制作と同時にTV/CM 音楽の制作を行うことで、増田は音楽家としての力を付けていった[8]。

2000年代[編集]

2000年、ケント・オン・ミュージック株式会社（英名：Kent on Music, Inc. 、ASCAP会員）を出版社及びレーベルとして設立。 2003年、「HANDS」をT-SQUAREの難波正司とロサンゼルスにて創作[9] 。フランスのMIDEM国際音楽見本市にプロモート後、特にドイツを中心に浸透。ハンブルクのKlassik Radioで単独インタビューを受ける[10]。 2005年、ニューヨークのレーベル、JPMC Recordsと契約。 2006年、グラミー賞ノミネート・プロデューサー、チャールズ・エラーとレーン・ギブソン（Lane Gibson(英語版)）両氏と制作録音した「GlobeSounds」をリリース。スタジオには元ヴァモント州知事、マデリーヌ・クニン（Madeleine M. Kunin(英語版)）が見学に訪れる[2]。

2010年、全編シンセシスによる「Light Speed+」をリリース。

On 26 September 2012, he released his 9th studio album "All in the Silence" through Kent On Music, Inc.[11] The album contains twelve tracks[12] and was produced by Masuda.[13] All in the Silence was recorded at Charles Eller Studios in Vermont with Chas Eller and Lane Gibson, Kent on Music Studio in Tokyo, and Synchrony Music Del Ray Studio in Los Angeles with Ted Namba.[2]

Masuda composed music for renowned designer Yohji Yamamoto's Femme Autumn Winter 2011–2012 Paris Fashion Week fashion show which featured his compositions "Hands" and "Little Tokyo Poetry".[14][15] They continued to collaborate on Masuda's creative short music film "Godsend Rondo" directed by Tomo Oya in Hokkaido.[16][17][18]

2013年3月、渋谷のムジカーザ・アコースティック・コンサートホールで「Force in the Silence」ツアーによるパフォーマンスで観客を魅了[19]。増田の演奏は、クラシカルな作風の楽曲により、これまでの彼のキャリアを強調し、あらゆる境界や国境を越えた実生活での多彩な感情を描くことにより、暗黙の思考の共有を音楽により試みた[20]。

2014年4月、「Loved One」を高品質HQCDでのリリース。数多くの賞を受賞しているマルチプロデューサー、ゲイリー・ヴァンディと、通算グラミー賞8冠、200枚以上のゴールド・プラチナディスクの栄冠実績を誇るStudio Centerにて、マイアミでの共作を行った[1][21]。共演者にはポール・メッシーナ (Flashpoint(英語版)）、ケヴィン・マーカス・シルベスター (Black Violin(英語版)）が迎えられる[22]。

2015年2月6日、カリフォルニア州ロサンゼルスの名門第57回グラミー賞授賞式に出席。増田の最新アルバムから、同年のグラミー賞候補4部門への公式推薦があった[23][24]。

2017年7月5日、ニューヨーク市の国際連合にて Artisan World Festival Peace International Initiative "Music, Performance & Humanitarian" Award を受賞。舞台芸術との継続的な関わりと革新的な音楽貢献に加えて、文化的多様性、文化的保全、世界平和を促進する人道的プロジェクトへのコミットメントに基づくこのグループは、国連経済社会開発特別諮問委員会（UN）の支援を受けている組織であり新世代行動の一部。 [25][26]

2018年、ロシアのリューリク王朝殿下より依頼を受け、クラシカルな行進曲 "Rurikovich March Era of Resurrection" を作曲。2016年には同王朝より伯爵号を叙爵している[27]。

2019年、スウェーデンのポップスター、エルサ・アンドレンと第61回グラミー賞授賞式に出席[28][29]。

同年5月11日、サンシルベストロ教皇騎士団のガラコンサートがセント・レジス・ローマ・グランドホテルにて開催され、ケント・マスダのシグネチャー・モデルであるKAWAIピアノ(CR-1M)を演奏。この大変珍しいピアノは5台限定であり、1億円の価格付けがなされている[30][31][32][33]。

2020年代[編集]

2021年12月21日、増田顕人は数々の賞を受賞したアメリカのゲイリー・ヴァンディとプロデュースした通算11作目のアルバム「KENTOVERSE」をリリース。 ハイレゾリューションオーディオ、可逆圧縮、FLACなど24ビット96kHzのプロセスを利用して優れた音質を実現する。各楽曲の構成は、複雑な音符のブレンド、リズムとトーンのマトリックスで感情を伝えている[28]。この作品にはフリーメイソン神学の Great Architect of the Universe(英語版)をテーマとした交響曲が主に含まれ、Masonic music(英語版)をはじめ西洋音楽史歴代作品の一つとしてする。

スタイル・影響[編集]

増田へのインタビューによると、ヨハン・ゼバスティアン・バッハと、アラン・メンケンの影響を受けているとのこと[7]。
